Hi

Have had to koi angel fish in a tank for a year now, and they've always got on, even spawning a couple of time, - but today they have started fighting, the larger one has the other hemmed in at one side of the tank.

The tank I have them in is only a 100L, but I've just bought a new one to tranfer them into - 4ft Ocean Free - at the weekend.

Any ideas whats going on, or is it just the tank size

Thanks in advance.

I found my koi angels were always falling in and out of love and i think you only need to divide the tank if one is getting really pretty badly beat up.

Angels fight for all sorts of reasons and getting them a bigger tank is a good idea.

Angels are strange that way. They can pair up & get along for quite a while, then for no apparent reason aggression pops up. Some will fight when trying to choose a spawning site, when not actively spawning, or for some odd territorial reason. I had a pair that would lip lock & battle every day, only when I turned the light on.

Try taking out the aggressor, rearranging the tank, and adding him/ her back in after the more passive fish has settled in with the new arrangement. This will remove any territories, angels key territories off of objects in the tank.

A larger tank on its own may solve the problem. Keep a divider handy just in case.

Thanks, hopefully the new tank will work if not I have another tank I can put one of them in.
