First off- what is the official website for ADA? and what online store in the US carries ADA products?

Second- I am aware stem plants should have a nice planting substrate such as eco-complete or other brands. Is there any non-gravel substrate thats is a nice planting substrate such as an eco-complete sand or something? What is pond soil?

I will let others answer your second question ;)

The owner of a local hatchery near me told me to use Soilmaster select instead of Eco-Complete. It's a soil used for baseball fields. It's much cheaper than Eco-Complete (it's $15 for 50 lb.s). I'm going to look more into it and where I can get it. Anyone else ever hear of it?

For the problem you will face finding it in a small enough quantity and the issues you may have with it, with no one on here who has used it before, is it not worth forking out the extra few bucks for a standard planted substrate. Eco-complete, tetra aquatic compost, ADA AS, laterite, flurite .....

SM and it's previous brand name of profile or MPV turface has a long history of usage in the planted tank hobby, check old APD post if you wish.

It's about as light weight as EC, but is red and they make a charcoal color one, but it's not solid black really.
15$ for 50lbs locally here, remember that EC's weight is 1/2 water, but requires no rinsing.

Sounds like they gave good advice really.

and there you have it.... I was talkin crap all along, so nicely put as well Tom,!

By the way, what`s baseball ?

Chris

A sport that gets cancelled when it rains:)
Not soccer, football, rugby, Mt Biking.
You folks likely will not find it there, but you might try soil amendments, golf turf supplies etc, I know they have that golf sport(Muhahah, a sport? hehehoho) over there, but we left Scotland 450 years ago to get away from that and those awful bag pipes, still have family relatives there, there is a Barr's Tavern there that are relatives of mine actually. They did a DNA test as well as the research methods so we have conformation now going back nearly 1000 years. We did not delvelop baseball though:)
A good pint perhaps..........

A bit more on topic and the analysis for the MPV Turface(both the red and black), Profile,

http://members.aol.com/nwwise01/Substrates...ed_Aquarium.htm

This goes way back, maybe 5-7 years ago now.

Book mark it if you are interested in substrates.
Kitty litter is good stuff BTW.
