Will carbon in a filter have a negative effect on ferts in the water, I know if your dosing meds you should remove any carbon in the filter so does the same apply when adding ferts.
 
it's negligible Joe, i use carbon in my filters all the time. Carbon is actually quite a good means of filtration in a planted tank.

it removes a lot of organic waste produced by plants. I use Purigen now for those properties as it lasts longer, but always have carbon running in my filter as well.
