I have a 180 litre tank with 2x 36w 4000k flourescent tubes no co2 and just gravel substrate.

I have 7x small amazon swords, 1x java fern, 2x moss balls and 2x anubias nana

Should i be adding fertiliser? some of my amazon swords are getting brown spots on them and i thought it may be due to lack of nutrients. I know the fish waste will provide some but i was just wondering whether it was worth adding some liquid fertiliser?

Also i need some suggestions for a low-maintenance floating plant if anyone has any?

thanks

These are the two products I have used since starting my hobby, the easy carbo I put in every day and the fertiliser a small amount every 3-4 days.

I started my first tanks with cuttings in late March this year

I know its untidy and bear in mind I have taken lots of cuttings so it shows the stuff above really works. Also this tank has no substrate, just gravel.
Here's my new tank with cutting taken from my 180

Not bad for two months growth eh? :hyper:

Oh btw, Salvinia is a great no maintenance floating plant. I got a handful from the guy I bought my 180 from and it has covered the top of that tank and is halfway across my 110L.
If you are in the UK I will gladly post you some mate :good:

I am in the UK, I've sent you a message with my address, if you could send me a cutting that would be brilliant! :good:

Thanks for that and the advice, i'll order some of them fertilisers today :)
Hopefully that'll get rid of the brown spots and i'll have a tank as nice as yours! your male dwarf gourami is lovely by the way, they're amazing fish, even though mine thinks he owns the tank!

No probs mate, I haven't posted cuttings before so will have to find out best way to send out to you
