Just started adding Co2 to my planted tank using Georges yeast recipie from PFK. My only question is, i am adding the CO2 via an air stone placed under the filter. This is giving a prety constant stream of small bubbles at the moment. Now i know the output from the yeast is quite high for the first day or two then drops off, but should i be too worried yet?

I'll get the means to test the CO2 levels tomorrow, but in the meantim i'll just keep an eye on my fish!

That would be a great help, other water perameters as well would be good.

Ph, Kh, using one of many charts available on the net will give you your estimated Co2 levels.

Plants stop using Co2 at night, keep an eye on your fish for oxygen shortage in those hours.

I test my normal stats regularly anyway, (once a week unless there's a problem.) I just haven't got the KH, and a more accurate pH test yet, which i should be getting today anyway.

It's only a home made CO2 kit, but i'll test the levels first thing in the morning make sure i'm not poisoning my fish!

Only had a reading of 14.26 tonight, need to get that above 20 really. Might be better in the morning.

Your doing better than me, mind you mine is a hagan nutrifin natural plant system, I'm thinking about doing diy mix, my levels don't come close to your levels.

Best of luck.

The level was similar in the morning, but it was very cold so the reaction will have slowed down. There aren't nearly as many bubbles today, so i may have to start the mix again soon.
I think my problem is the sugar i used was this low sugar stuff we got, but i'd mixed it up before i remembered what it was, so there isn't as much sugar for the yeast to react with. But never mind i'll use the proper stuff next time.
