Females Flare Too!

I am going on vacation for about two weeks. I have got all my babies taken care of. Filter-boy is staying with a guy I work with. Charlie and Fauna are at work (it has cooled down enough to keep fish there)another guy is going to care for them. They are sharing a tank (divided of course), anyway Fauna, who is just a baby, is acting like she is the queen of the universe!!!! She swims up to the divider and waits until Charlie swims up, Charlie being a typical male, fluffs his fins up and flares at her, and she flares back!! Charlie looks at her like she has lost her little fishy mind! She is a fiesty one for being so young. Now I admit I have never bred bettas, nor do I plan to, so I don't know if what these two are doing is considered flirting, but they are sure fun to watch. She doesn't have "bars" on her I just think Miss Fauna just likes to bother what ever is in the tank with her.

Anyway I didn't know females could flare. Fauna is so small when she flares it is like a three year old sticking out his tongue. Doesn't do much but is is cute to watch.

yep females flare too, my little one is a feisty one too, she'll flare at everything except me

They certainly do......I've got one that could rival any male in a flare off and a couple who have made bubblenests just as big!!!!
