One of my Female Swordtails has been pregnat for at least 3 months and has had one batch of 11 fry. The problem is that her gravid spot is still there and she's relly fat.
The other female had her fry and then thinned out straight away so I can't work out why this one is still pregnant.
I feel really sorry for her having to be in the breeding trap all on her own for so long, but I don't want to lose the fry because the 5 that survuved from her last batch are so unbelievably sweet!
What should I do??

Let her back into the tank, a female can choose when she want's to give birth she can delay it for a while, you will be stressing her out in the net, and you could end up losing the mother and the babies.

I know what your are going through because it happend to me too!

she was really big and she still wasnt having her babies....so i put her back into the main tank and let her swim around for a few days...like 2 and then she had her babies in the main tank....luckily i was there to scoop htem out into a new tank :D.....Your best option is to release her from the breeder. That way you can assure she will not be stressed to much :D

Hope this helps

I agree with what the others just said - let her out of the trap! If you keep her in there to long she's likely to get stressed and die, or stressed and abort. Just provide plenty of cover in your tank and keep a close eye on her so you can snatch the babies out and she'll be fine.
