hmm I dont think it was constipation, and she was not bloated until she was already dead infact she was pretty dern skinny. A friend who is a breeder and LFS friend looked at the portrusion on two different occasions for me and said it was intestinal hernia :( (the gross and saddest part is the same exact bit of bowel would hang out each time, making it very obvious that it was bowel and the same exact anatomy, before it would go back in for a few days, and then come out again) Also, she was not eating, so its pretty unlikely she could continue defecating and being constipated for weeks on end... sad tho. I did recently see a photo of another fish with a herniation, but theirs was much worse and the entrails were literally trailing...gross

Its possible she became constipated and simply bloated or something to death, It sounds very strange...Im sure Annastasia shall have the answer :p :D :look:

I'll have the answer? Heh...right. Though thanks DSF. :*)

I think I missed the original post that described it though...any possibility you could describe it again, Fawnmodel? :)

Though I have to say, you might be better off asking Wilder, as she seems to be the disease expert around here.

oo! that is weird, For some reason the original post is gone!

Anyways, my new (3 weeks) female sword was weird ever since I got her, she hid, didn't eat, and had recurring piece of intestine that would hang partway from her vent. I put her in a hospt tank and treated her with meds and salt. When it would go back I put her back in the tank, eventually she died, and when she died she was distended. My friend owns a LFS down the road, he said it was intestinal hernia that there is nothing that can be done...I have only head of that once before but it was much worse and the entrails were hanging... I am sad, she was a gorgeous hi-fin pineapple sword I was hoping to breed. She looked like she had a red mohawk! Sadly I was not able to capture a good pic of her or the problem. Tank params were all perf. No probs with any other fish, no other symptoms other than the hernia.

But, on the bright side, it did encourage me to go pick up this beautiful black female I have been dying for for the last month she came from the best LFS around, the cleanest tanks and gorgeous healthy fish - she was there a whole month and nobody took her!

She is a clear-finned black sword, and has alot of blue green irridencence in her body scales. I can't wait to breed her to my red. She is big and healthy and quite curious. Hope to get some berlins.

And, the baby mollies are great, big and are eating reg flake now in small pieces, along wtih bloodworm and tubifex - they are 3 weeks old, nearly a month.

Thanks for reading!
