Yesterday a female guppy of mine was swimming a little wacky, and resting on the submerged heater keeping her distance from other fish. Occasionally swimming normally. She looked sick. I moved her into a Hospital Tank.

She is now having Fry. YEAH! ==> But she's swimming and giving birth head down tail up. Half the Fry are underdeveloped and dying shortly after birth.

QUESTION:
Does this sound like my female is going through her own birthing process?
~OR~
Is this a sign of disease of the Mother and her Fry?

She has finished giving birth and she is swimming badly, resting her body on the heater and really struggling. I don't expect her to live much longer. I feel sad. :-(

"Juggernaut22988", you said she may have been too young:
It took her three months after being in the tank with the male to become pregnant. Anything is an option for cause at this point. thanks for the response.

It's very possible that moving the female to the hospital tank stressed her so much that she's having an early birth. Sounds like she was far enough along not to just abort - the fry are somewhat developed at this stage. Also, if she was a little ill before this, then got extra stress being moved, and now had to go through birth, I don't blame her for actin sick. I suppose all you can do is wait and see and hope she gets better. Good luck with her. Moving preggy mommies is such a careful thing. :/

I had to treat this tank for Ick before she showed symptoms. I think the Ick Treatment killed off the good bacteria too (as it should kill everything) and now my poor Mama has the Shimmies. I'll use anti-bacteria/anti-fungus medication for her in the Hospital tank.

Thanks everyone for reading, and giving comments! :D

Try to perk her up by feeding bbs or live bloodworm - but I agree with the comments about the stress probably being at the root of the problem. If she's gonna go, she'll go soon. :-(
