Female Sorority?

do female Betta's prefer to be alone or with others? I've got a 5 gal ready to go, then I saw the most beautiful turquoise female CT at Petco, I've been wanting to go back for her... my daughter thinks 1 fish in a tank is boring...can I do mulitple females in this little tank?

As long as you have 4 or more you will be fine, and for a 5 gal 4 fish is max. Make sure you have plenty of hiding spaces

would you really put 4 in that small tank or just skip it and put 1 male?

what would you filter it with? just the sponge or or a box? I have a new azoo palm filter it's a small HOB i just got and haven't set up yet, or I could use 3i's(2) like I have on the in the other 3 galllon tank

and what hiding spaces would you use, my male sleeps in floating plants or behind the heater but never even looked at the terra cotta pot cave so I took it out to make more room

I have a 5 gallon tank with 3 female bettas. It is filled with many hiding spots and fake plants. There was nipping for the first 3 days only and now they get along great! I haven't seen them fight or nip since..even when I feed them!

I'd be more comfortable with 3, what filter do you use?

i picked up sme used sponge filters from my lfs
cant never seem to find new ones.... anyway ask the lfs if they have any discount merchandise,, good buys,,as long as the flow isnt too strong anything is good, there is a thread on here about aslowing th flow up is its too fast too.

I actually have a couple of different sponge filters here, a Penn Plaxx cartridge, and a round one that sits on the bottom(haven't tried it yet) and this 3i that I don't love, I'm anxious to try out this little HOB I just got, my current fish doesnt mind a little current, I've found that floating a 1/2 stirofoam cup provides a nice cave and also cuts the current a bit

what do you use for substrate?

what about a solitary female, do they hate being alone? if so, I think I'll stick to males
