Right ok,, sorry about dodgy videoing, hard to hold torch and cam at same time
Lights were off in tank as new fish were being floated.
I got Little Miss Redtail about 6 weeks ago and a mustard gas fem. They are in together and are fine. A week ago i bought 3 new fems. While they were floating in bags Little Miss Redtail coloured up , was flaring and round the bags,, the new girls all barred up and heads down. So i thought i may have probs, but when let out all turned out fine.
Last night Ibbledibble got 3 new fems and floated them before going home. Exactly the same happened, Red flared and coloured up and was mainly paying attention to one the same colour in one of the bags. The 3 fems barred up too as soon as they saw Red.
What we are thinking is maybe Little Miss Redtail is a young male and whilst fish are in bags its all show from just seeing each other. When they are out of the bags maybe if he is a young male he doesnt have enough pheramones or scents or whatever male fish give out for the females to be interested in him.
Basicly is Little Miss redtail male or female. Or any other ideas why it only happens while fems are being floated would be appreciated,, bit of a mystery at moment.
