Hey people,

my female molly that gave birth a week ago is now chasing my other mollies around the tank. She is chasing 2 male mollies and a female one. I think this is an odd behaviour...does anyone have any ideas why? I don't think it is very stressfull to the other mollies....these are the only fish I have in my planted tank.

Also I am very sad because I left the fry in the tank with all the mollies and until the next morning they were fewer....due to my stupidity I didn't remove them from the tank even though I saw some were missing...now I am left with one and I keep it in a separate tank...the thing is that I am sure that the adult mollies didn't eat them because I was mostly near the tank looking at the fry that had no problem swiming around with the adults.....also I dound a couple of them dead on the bottom of the tank...no other cretears in my tank other than mollies and a few tiny snails.....where did my mollie fry go?

the bodies you found the mollies probably ate, but i had a balloon molly and she had 101 fry and only 1 of them survived (i put them in a breeder net but because there was soo many they were quite weak) so if she has had alot they could of just died because there weak, or they could still be hiding. about your mollie that gave birth, normally they chace other tank mates when there just about to give birth but if she's already gave birth i dont know, maybe she's just in a bad mood!
hope that helps

Mollies can be pretty aggressive fish. I'm not surprised she's chasing other fish, actually. :/

Congrats on saving the baby though! :D The ones dead on the bottom could have been stillborn, or been bullied by another fish, or just died from stress or bad water quality. What are your params? And the parents probably ate all the others. Mollies are notorious fry eaters, unfortunatly. :(
