I'm ready to bring home a "lady" for my male krib :hey: - but not sure what size to get.

My male is approximately 2.5 inches. Should the female be smaller (or larger) than him - or does it even make a difference?

Kribs for the most part pair up pretty easy. Though in some cases you may have a mate not willing ti accept the new mate.
In most cases I would recoment getting a female a bit larger if poss. Now, this may also back fire and you may have an aggressive female. In most casses the male is the brat but, tables do turn. Females are a bit more aggressive once thay are raising young.
Try adding some dither fish. I would add them at the same time you add the new mate.

VERY important to rearrange the tank as to give both the old fish and the new mates an equal chance to astablish turf. If you do not do this the male will have the upper hand and chase her everywhere. changes should be made PRIOR to introduction.
hope this helps
Danny

Good advice there, its amazing how much difference it makes to rearrange the tank for agressive fish. So long as your new female Krib is of a similar size to the male you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks for the replies! Just brought home the female krib from the lfs (conveniently located 10 minutes away!)

She's currently in the quarantine tank and looking a little "green around the gills". The kribs at the lfs I go to never look quite right...always pale and fins somewhat tattered. I think it's because they have too many in one tank and they scrap with each other. Once I get them home, they begin to develop beautiful color and lovely fins over time. Hopefully she will, too. She's starting to swim around now...

Here's a pic of her prince-in-waiting:
