i noticed my girls will all get excited when it comes to feeding time in the evening well even before i get a chance to put the food in Athena starts jumping out of the water a little bit and after i put the food in shes fine and goes on bout her business, my males dont do this at all their just like eh whatever thanks for the food now leave my presence
i know bettas are known for jumping out of the water but i was wondering if any body else have their bettas get so excited bout food they start jumping out of the water or just in general

That's not excitement, it's a sign that your betta wants to kill you :shout:

Next she's gonna pull out a pocket knife like drop the food in and no one gets hurt
before you know it you'll wake up in bed with her biting at your forehead sinisterly

its all just a plot they have going on
"hey guys lets make her think we really like her and when she opens the lid we attack"
never trust a betta fish

the last guy that trusted his has a hook for a hand

be sure to have your combat knife hidden in your steel toed betta feeding combat boots at all times

betta feeding combat boots not only protect your feet from even the most sinister of betta fish, but also lets your bettas know that you mean business during feeding time, so they'll think twice before messing with you

Ill keep a look out for them the next time I go shoe shopping

I would keep an eye on her as I once had a female who was fine at first and never jumped, she came to the top to nibble our finger but never jumped. Suddenly she started jumping for her food and then... I was feeding them all one day she jumped right outta the tank, and I mean out, and landed near my feet. Then ever since that day she was jumping whenever the lid was opened and then she started jumping when the lid was still on and managed to somehow jump out while we were watching tv and I never noticed until the cat got very interested in something on the floor... Went to look and there she was, weakly flopping about so I got her in water straight away, in a separate tank to the others, but she never survived the night...
I'm not saying this will happen, I'm just saying... Watch her.

I've been watching her every time I open the lid so I've been opening it just enough so I can stick my hand in there and drop the food in, there are no wholes in the lid for her to drump out of the tank the

I had a female that jumped a few years ago. I ended up using a funnel in a small hole to feed them. Water changes were a nightmare; I had to have someone standing by just in case. I couldn't see her one morning at feeding time and found her dried up behind the tank. I've still no idea how she got out as all the holes had filter wool stuffed in them.

My girls used to jump. I used to have to open the lid a tiny peep and quickly put the food in.

My girls used to also jump OUT of the tank...so I used to keep a net RIGHT next to the tank for these such occurances.

Edit: My girls were always ok after their little excursion outside of the tank. Not that I of course recommend it lol.
