I have 2 female Bettas in my tank and one of them, (now isolated) is in very bad physical shape after it was attacked by the other. There is a gaping open wound in the side around the abdoman. No, usually, I wouldn't hesitate in putting fish to sleep if they are in such bad shape but she is still behaving very near normal - eating etc... I am treating the tank with Melafix, should I give her a fighting chance or is it futile?

Thanks.

I have a fish in the condition, have put salt into tank and seeing how she is in the morning.

Yes, just saw your thread. Mine has survived two and a bit days now but that wound has not really proved much. All fins up and looks quite herself to an extent.

That gives me a bit of hope, will see how she does over time. If it gets manky or looks sore I will re-assess.

Sorry to hear about your girlie. I've never experienced this before however, I would always leave wounded fish that are acting normally until they are no longer acting normally to euthanise. Good luck with her :good:

mine did the whole open scales and fins but we think she / he had dropsy same time 4 females attacked 'shim'

hope your girl pulls through
