hi guys and girls, so far i have posted a few info requests for my guppys and this is no different im afraid. i seem to be having problems with female guppy so far all but 1 of my females have died. i have male guppy and 6 tetra also in my tank. apart from water hardness my water tests as being ok. my tempature is hovering around 26 mark but i cant seem to get it lower my house is very warm being a top floor flat. i have a very mature filter sponge that i got from a friend but i did recently remove my old charcol filter that had been in the tank for a long time but i had problems before removing it. its a 30l tank plastic plants. does anyone know what could be wrong? all the fish look fine before they die and the fish that are left all seem happy.

do you have a air pump? because there might not be enough oxygen in the tank and i would recommend getting some live plants because they help putting oxgyen into the tank. i would also try having the tempature around 27-28 degrees because this will help to stop any disease developing within the tank. also when did you start your tank because the cycle might not have finished yet which is the problem i had. it was fine after about 3-4 weeks later. hopefully your guppies will survive because mine somehow did. have you also been using Aqua Plus, cycle and waste control, my favourite brand is Nutrafin. also i would change 20-30% of the water once a week adding these treatments in when you do it.
hope this helps

just for your information nutrafin cycle does:-

- Reduces Fish Loss
- Rapidly Establishes New Aquariums
- Prevents Toxic Biological Conditions
- New Highly Concentrated Responsive Formula

Nutrafin aqua plus does:-

- Removes Chlorine and Chloramine
- Neutralises Heavy Metals
- Protects and Heals
- Patented Stress-Reducing Formula

and the nutrafin waste control does:-

- Reduces Aquarium Maintenance
- Rapidly Reduces Organic Waste
- Supports Healthy Aquarium Conditions

these three products will help to get rid of anything harmful in your aquarium but bare in mind that doing a cycle on your tank can take up to 2 to 4 weeks.

thanks for the advice. i already had a mature filter but cycled this for just over 2 weeks before adding fish. i wilk pop to my lfs and get some treatments that you have recomended and i will also ask them if they have had any problems with guppys just incase its a bad batch.

If you didn't feed the mature filter with ammonia (or fish food) during those two weeks, the bacteria that were present will have died off.

I'd forget about any medicines and just do a 50% water change daily until you can get a test kit.

how many male guppy and female do you have? just 1 each?..

if you have more male than female, that could be a stress factor which in result of dead females

and plus guppies like flat surface to sleep at night as well...

i bred guppies plenty times, let me know if you have any more questions
