I have had 2 female guppies give birth.
The first female started staying at top of tank etc about 3 weeks after giving birth then couple days later died.
The same thing has just happened to my second female.
Does anyone know why this has happened and what I could do to stop it.

First off can you post test results in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, it is quite common for females to die after giving birth, how long have you had them.

all paramaters are fine eg ammonia and nitrite( or is it nitrate) is 0 and the other one is 20.
I dont test for ph.
Ive had the females for about 6 months

It's important to find which is 0 and which is 20. 20ppm for nitrite is VERY deadily, while 20ppm for nitrate is perfectly fine. Nitrite is toxic to fish and occurs after ammonia in the nitrogen cycle. Nitrate is the safe end product that you want present in your tank.

its 20 for nitrate.
Unless I have test kit in front of me I get confused with them lol
ammonia and nitrite are 0.
I didnt use a breeding trap for them as I dont have a big enough tank for lots of babies.
If any survive birth and I can find them I put the babies in a net and if Im getting over stocked Ill give away babies.
