Hey all,

Well I bought my female a couple of years ago and she was sold to me as a Blue Acara, but just recently I posted up pics of my tank with a pic of her, and was told she is in fact a Green Terror. Can someone please confirm this for me, as she is laying eggs, and I'd like to get a male for her. Going from pics I can find, she looks to be a Green Terror, but it's always good to get a second opinion. Also I noticed that there is the Green Terror and the False Green Terror, which one is she???

All help appreciated :good:

Here is the lionk to my pics of my fish and pics of her
Better pic further down the first page

Yep that's definately a GT.

The true Green Terror or Aequidens rivulatus has not been seen in the hobby for many years now.

Aequidens rivulatus

The false Green terror Aequidens sp. Gold Saum is widely available and commonly referred to and accepted as "The" Green Terror now.

Thanks for the confirmation...I'll have to let my other LFS know about that, because they have a Green Terror at their shop advertised as a Blue Acara, not their fault though, rather their suppliers.
YAY!!! Now I can go ahead and get her a male  :yahoo:

You have yourself a green terror there ... you have a very stange mix of fish Lol.

Joel

TY.....love my assortment:):) Also just got 2 mooriis and a Labeotropheus fuelleborni 'Blue Redtop'

that looks just like mine!!! she's a beauty! i hope that means i have a real one!

It will be a "false" GT but don't worry, thats what we all have. :D

Everyone refer's to them as GT's anyway.

Wellllllll....I just got my male terror :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :drinks:

I also got another Silver Scat, he was the only one there, the silly young girl at the lfs had sold only one Silver Scat, which were not to be separated :( The one left there was stressed and lonely, so I bought him/her and now e/she is swimming with my 2 other Scats.....it's sooo cute to watch,my adult Scats are 18cm long, and this lil baby is only 2 cm long, it's so funny to look at the size difference, it also has taken a huge shine to the female green terror...just so cute I can't stop talkin about it

Time to update my sig :)

Good news Ashli! :good:

I especially like the baby Scat bit. :D

Ok even more good news........

In a couple of days I'll own:

Protomelas taeniolatus Red Empress (pair)

Xystichromis Phytophagus (pair)

I've been waiting a while to get these...I'm on a good streak at the moment

Ashli

P.S. The baby Silver Scat also thinks it's a Severum, as well as a GT....just damn cute

P.P.S. Ferris what is that fish in your avatar, it's beautiful

the green terror of common has the red tips on fins and the original more rare green terror has white tipped fins. My lfs actually has one but its like 70 buck and they have a pair. They actually come from the same body of water but one is on one side and the other is on the oppisite side.

just wanted to let you know that if you are looking for a "true" or "not false" gree terror then check this link out

That pic is a false GT. True Aequidens rivulatus have much more flowing fins and don't have the orange/red edges on the fins.

Okay here's another question.....

the other night the male and female were shaking their heads at each other really fast, gill flaring, and then locked lips.

Is that ritual of breeding for them??? The male is still young, I thought perhaps that she would wait til he's alot bigger.

P.P.S. Ferris what is that fish in your avatar, it's beautiful

Its a Pseudotropheus Demasoni, an especially aggressive little Mbuna species from Lake Malawi in Africa and yes they are beautiful. :D

The GT's shaking etc can be a sign of aggression or part of a mating ritual. As you have a male and female, lets hope they've taken a fancy to each other. :good:
