Female Gourami Being Hassled By Male

they look fantastic. Would they be ok in my tank because my pH level is 7.5? How much do they usually cost?

there's a lot of different species, some would be fine at 7.5 some wouldn't so it's a case of browsing through all the different species and selecting one that's appropriate. if you ask in the NW cichlid section they'll help you find a suitable one.

generally not all that expensive, couple of quid each

I had a hell of a time with male gouramis beating up on my females when I started stocking my 2nd tank. I started out with 2 males and 1 female, and the largest male spent virtually all day chasing both the other male, and the female around, so after a few days I took him back and got another female, which gave me 2 females and 1 male, and all was fine. A few days later the remaining male began to chase around and beat up both females, and after 2 or 3 days of this both of the females fins were looking very ragged, and neither of them had eaten much, or at all for a few days, as they were always hiding from the male, so I ended up taking that male back and getting another female.

This kind of leads into a question I have: Is my 25 gallon tank too crowded? In it I currently have:

2 female opaline gouramis
1 female gold gourami
1 female pearl gourami
1 female silver gourami(Just added today)
7 peppered corydora catfish
1 clown pleco(Just added today)

I have a 68 (US gallon) tank and only have 2 dwarf gourami ( have other fish in it as well, look a bit empty otherwise!) in it, they are territorial so ensure it's well planted with bogwood to hide under at both ends of the tank, this allows the fish to establish their own territory within the tank.

2 dwarf gouramis
5 Phantom Tetras
6 White tipped tetras
5 Rasboras (harlequins)
2 Albino corries
1 Neon (must get some more, he's on his own as at 4 years he has outlived the rest of his original shoal)
3 Ammano shrimps

How are the gouramis getting on with you're pepper corries?

I had to give my 3 peppers away as they were small and the gouramis harrased them all day.
