About 4 days ago i seen my female in the corner of the tank alot, she does this when the male is bugging her. She stayed there for days and was not eating, i seen that one of her bottom fins was patially gone. I took male out and left her in the 20 gallon. She still is not eating and stays at bottom of tank alot, she doesn't look very strong. I have been treating her with maracyn II and added some salt to the water. Is there a chance she will survive this? Before this they were laying eggs at least twice a month. I am wondering if she is tired because of laying all those eggs and that is why she is ill. Do the females have a shorter life span because of the egg laying? I hope I don't lose her, they have paired up well and she is so cute :(

Sometimes pairs will go off. If she is hiding up in the corner she could be sick, as mentioned, but frankly it could just be the male has for some reason turned against her. If this is it then you should have no problem nursing her back to health as long as she isn't too far gone, but putting her back with the male once this happens is risky. If you can get her healthy again only introduce her with a dividor in the tank and gauge how they interact through it.
