heyy,

I have a Aqua one 620T stocked with 3 Congo tetras and 6 head and tail light tetras. I want something really colourful to put in the tank and I was looking at female bettas because of their colour and they could be kept in groups. I was wondering would 2 or 3 of these be a good addition to my tank ( I dont want to over stock it ). I have also heard that bettas can not be kept in tall tanks, is this true? is my tank to tall? (it is 60cm tall)

thanks in Advance

Well they still would fight BUT nothing like males fighting

Females do sometimes fin nip and chase each other for dominance so in my opinion you need a min of 7 females to spred the aggression between them

How bigs ur tank? Congos can reach 6" long

The maximum size for Congo Tetra's is Males - 3.5", Females - 2.5-3".

If it's the correct one it's perfectly fine for them as it's 35Gallons. Though you really should up the number of Congo's to 5-6, 10 is better but I don't think you'd fit 10 in there if you want Female Betta's. Female Betta's can be nippy toward each other but it's a complete dominance thing, they don't injure each other badly like Males do. As for how many Betta's to get... I'd go for about 7-8 so the Aggression is spread evenly between them.
The Head and Tail Light Tetra's can get between 1.5" and 2" so they should be fine for you to up the numbers to about 8 or 9, possibly 10. They will be a lot happier like that.
I hope this helps you out.

I have congos (look identicle to congos that are juvies and are nearly has big as my opalines gours ) meh but it dont matter but i do agree with the larger shoal :)

Actually, females can and do fight as badly as males do, either to other females or other males. I've seen a female that bit a male's veil tail and would not let go, looked like a skier behind a boat. If I hadn't separated them in time I'm sure she would have shredded him to pieces.

If you have enough cover and fast fish, as you do, then I think 2-3 females are fine. People recommend larger number of females in a sorority tank where they have no other distraction but other females.
