Sugar coating and nicely nicely? I don't think so
I was browsing round a Hollybush Garden centre today, and happened across a tank full of Female bettas. I decided to get myself a group of 5 for my 12 gallon.
I saw 2 or 3 that were really very nice, but was informed by the girl that these were males that had been included in the shipment by accident. On closer inspection I saw she was right so alas that doubletail was not to be mine!
But I have my 5 ladies now, 4 of which are red in the fins and one with a blue wash of colour when she turns in the light. A couple have slightly tatty tails but apart from that they are all in good shape.
I moved my 4 male guppies to the 30 gallon, as I am not sure how well female bettas and guppies get on, so I chose the safer route. The 2 male endlers , 9 pygmy cories and the applesnail are all still in there though.
There has been a little bit of chasing and sorting of the heirachy, but nothing serious.
Here are some pics
The tank
Eating an algae pellet ( they were fascinated by it for about 5 mins before realising it was edible )
