for Christmas i am getting a 30 7 gallon for a male betta, and hoping to buy another tank for female betta(s) how big does tank have to be for errm 3?

im going to try and breed ;) i research alot cos im paranoid so questions answer please :D

You'd be better to get 4 or 5 females to spread the bullying out more. A 10 gal heavily planted tank would be perfect for them.

If you interested in breeding then have a look at our website. There is a section on breeding and raising fry that you might find helpful :good:

Three female bettas is not a good plan. There needs to be five or more to disperse aggression. A 10gal tank is fine for five, provided you are prepared to do weekly water changes.

Sorry Netty...I posted at the same time...at least, we agreed!

thank you ! the both of you

and i had a hunch that netty will answer ;)

how would i know when a male going to build his nest? (i was reading your site and it says "condition the male for 2 weeks so he can make a nest")

Now this may come out wrong....but youll know he's conditioned to make a nest......when you see one ^_^

Darlin please please please do a lot of research before you start breeding. A bad match can leave you will dead fish...and a good one can leave you with 100 plus! There are so many things that you need to think about, and just by going from your questions so far, I don't think its wise for you to go through with this yet.
If I were you, I would wait for now, and just learn all you can. Save your money (your gonna need alot of it) and gather your materials FIRST. At least a hundred jars, sponge filters for the fry tank....the fry tank itself....

Netty would be able to give a better list, I dont breed, I know I cant provide for the little darlins right now....T_T
