Was looking at the female Betta tank at my petstore and they had a girl who was different from the others. She was greenish with 2-3 horizontal darker stripes going down her body. Would this be a separate species of Betta? or a wild Betta?

My lavender girls have stripes like that....Of course, any time I see a betta that's really different, I have to adopt it.....

when a female, and even on occasion a male, gets horizontal stripes, it is nothing to be concerned about. this is there was of letting the other fish know that they are submissive. these are also known as 'fear' stripes. they will obtain these stripes when they are stresses or feel threatened. if they were recently in a fight with another fish, then the stripes show that they have submitted.

I have some green scaled females who get horizontal stripes on them when they get harassed in the girls tank.

Not a new species and defo not wild.

I have a personal relationship with the dude that owns the fish store in my area and he has different types of betta, cus with the betta fish that we all know about like you can't keep two males together because of aggression well with this different type of betta you can keep males with males and the same with females, they look like the original betta but abit different I'll try to get a photograph of them
:good:
