Hi, just in the process of setting up my 260l and will be moving my current fish into it once it's all cycled.

What will be in the tank

7 x Zebra danio's
2 x Angels
1 x RTBS
1 x BN Plec
3 x Neon tetra's (am risking them in with the angels)
2 x Male guppies
Possibly 3 or 4 (currently cant find the 4th one) black molly fry if I cant find an LFS to take them off my hands.

I iniatially wanted some type of gourami or ram to go in there too to make a nice colourful centrepiece but have since learned that they are very weak fish and it's not a great idea.

So my question is, with the above how would female fighters get on in the tank, I've heard they are good community fish.

How many would I want to get?

Many Thanks

Vicki

I think they would be perfectly fine. Female bettas are not aggressive to other fish, unless she sees a male betta. I think you can maybe get 3 or 4 female bettas in there if you want to. But always remember the 1 gallon per inch of fish.

3 sounds a lovely number :D

Now all I need to do is find some pictures of them as hardly ever see female betta's pics...

i wouldnt put just three neons in they should ideally be kept in fives or more imo

Modaz has females for sale on Ebay :good: Nice too :good:

I did notice

Although I cant fit anything else in my current tank but will be sure to pop down his shop when the tank is cycled

Chesterscot - I did have 6 neons but 3 died and I'm not planning on replacing them as I now have angels and when the angels grow am assuming they are going to eat all the neons :-(

take all the neons back to the lfs(the angles will eat them), take the molly fry back(unless mostly grown everything will eat them)and consider taking the male guppys back if you get some female bettas, as the female bettas may confuse them with a male betta and kill them.

I'm not sure any LFS around here take in any of the fish, the fry are still fairly small apart from one who is quite a bit bigger than the others.

It would mean I can have more of other fish which I would like but also wouldn't want to just give them up for free and would want a tiny amount of store credit - even if it's £2 it's still something considering I've spent money on them. I know it sounds harsh but if no LFS takes them I'm just gonna see how I get on, as if they end up as food at least the angels or other fish had a nice expensive meal out lol.

If you do end up getting females then a you should get a minimum of 4 to help spread out any bullying and make sure you've lots of plants and areas that they can hide in :good:

That was the other question I was gonna ask, I've just spent a fair amount of money buying stuff for the tank including live plants.

I dont want them to get ripped up, would the betta's kill the live plants?
