I have a 20g long tank with 2 female bettas (I know I should have more but they get along just fine and I don't want to add more and mess that up) and around 15 guppies but would like to add some more fish. The guppies haven't breed in a while, they are old and if they do have any babies they are eaten before I notice but I don't ever see any pregnant and because they are old they are slowly dieing off. I liked the guppies and they got along fine with the bettas but I would like some kind of schooling fish, thinking of neon tetras but read that they can be very nippy and don't want them bothering the bettas even though guppies can be nippy too and it's like they don't even know the bettas are in the tank and vise versa. The thing that is keeping me from actually getting the neons is how fragile they can be when first bought and I would rather not keep wasting $2 on each neon that dies. I'm planning on getting around 4 albino corydoras, what fish in your opinion would look good and get along with them as well as my current fish especially the bettas?

Oh and a little more about my tank, it's semi planted with silk plants and I just added 8 aponogeton bulbs so if they all grow it will be a little more planted but still far from a planted tank, I have a piece of real driftwood in the center of the tank and a plastic cave in a back corner just for some place to go if a fish needs more privacy then the plants. And as far as the filters go I have a Aquaclear 50 that pumps 200 gph and a whisper 20 that pumps 105 gph. The whisper is an extra just in case I ever need a cycled filter real quick. I usually have an airstone but needed the plug for another clamp light for my hermit crabs. I do a water change every other week most of the time and take out around 40%. If you would like to know anything else just ask.

corys are nice and another option is ottocinclus which have to be kept in a shoal and needs to have some algae in tank, but are really nice.

I have had neon tetras for a while and have had no problems with them, there not as difficult as you think as long as it is a mature tank and good water conditions same as every fish there shouldnt be problems.

They can be nippy but i keep them with guppies and gouramis and never had no problems.

Other kind of shoaling fish which are nice are x ray tetras and harlequin rasboras
just some options to think about.:)

15 guppies and 2 bettas, your dangerously close if not already being overstocked..i woud'nt recommend putting 4 corydoras in

As I had already said, the guppies are starting to die off since they are already a few years old. I don't really want to have a tank of just 2 bettas once all the guppies are gone and would like to start adding a few fish each time a few guppies die off. I at least would like to have some ideas of what fish I can add with the bettas and to make sure the ones I'm thinking are good. My water params are ammonia- zero, nitrite- zero, nitrate- 20 (tap is 10) and ph- 7.0 (tap is 7.5). Another thing, I have black gravel and a black background and would like fish that would pop and not blend in with the decor that is why I was thinking of the albino corydoras and some neons.

So no one has any other ideas other then the x ray tetras and harlequin rasboras?
