Hi guys erm my femal betta has not been itself for a few days now. Its lost its colour in herself and she keeps staying at the top of the surface water. Any clues as to what it might be??
I'm guessing lack of oxygen or something.

I haven't added any medicene and I changed the water at lest 2 or 3 times a week. I even did a PH test and it came up as 6.5

Not sure if that helps but please any help would be much appriciated

How many gallons is the tank.
Any other fish or inverbrates kept with the betta.
Need to look at your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.
Do you run a filter.
Being pale can be many things from stress, parasites to bacterial.
Does the betta look bloated.

Water stats are the PH thingy right so thats what everyone keeps telling my in LFS's.
I have neons, silver sharks, platy, ruby shark and RTBS.
The betta is really thin
Yes I run a filter and clean it
Gallons , well tank is 3 foot long

Your tanks overstocked.
How big are the bala shark, plus you can't keep ruby sharks and red tailed sharks togther in such a small tanks as they are aggressive.
I would take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
The betta has the fish lost weight due to not eating.
I would get the betta a tank of its own as they don't far well in big tanks.

What does it look like when the betta goes to the toilet.
Check the anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.
Any worms prutruding from the anus.
Are you sure the betta getting food and not being bullied by other fish in the tank.

Yeah the sharks aint that big. The ruby shark does get bullied but I'm hoping to add plants and see if that helps cos LFS wont accept fish back. As for the Beta (which is what I am here to talk about it :p) has indeed lost weight. But she also does eat. I can assure you she does not get bullied however she bullies the other fish like the platy mainly. Her poo I think is normal but somewhat blackish. Dunno if thats good or bad? She has lost colour in her body too and her tail is all scrunched up not wide like it should be with other fish.

I really need more info on the water test kit because honestly I have been asking around all the LFS in my area and out my area and they all tell me the same thing that the water test kit is the PH which does test the nitrate, nitrite, carbon etc.

If you can post pictures of what a water test kit looks like would be helpful too.
As for a tank of its own that would mean buying a seperate heater, filter, gravel accessory and the tank its self and right now I am skint for money as its tight. But if anyone is willing to give away a free tank from their kindness, it would be appriciated.

Liquid test kits are the best.
You can buy api master test kit in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
The betta does the spine look bent or tail.

The tail bent or the spine.

I think the spine. You can't really tell its bent but something doesn't seem right anyway. I never seen my betta like this before.

Bent spines can be old age, fish tb, to internal parasites.
