Female Betta Problem

my friend has a female betta in a 55 gal tank(unsure of the stocking)

but when she bought her home the betta hasnt been able to use her pectoral fin but now its starting to turn black

any ideas whats causing it?
sorry unless she brings pictures back from school i got nothing

it sounds like it may have broke its fin. There really isn't anything you can do... either it will learn to go without it or die ... This is my educated guess

I think ( maybe Wilder will correct me) that darkness can be ammonia burns too.

All I could suggest would be to check the water is OK, PH, Temp, Nitrite, Ammonia, Nitrate. If not then some water changes might be a good idea.

Really could do with knowing water stats and if there are any other fish in the tank, if so are they all OK ?

Did he/she climatize the fish before adding to the tank do you know ?

yeah thats what i was thinking w/ a broken fin
sorry but i got nothin on the water stats and shes back here at school so i dont know if she can get water stats
prolly not ill try

ammonia burn also seems like a possibility if its up that high

ill find out the stats
