will a female betta be compatible with the fish in my 10 gallon?

Should be, but it really depends on the individual personality of the betta. I'd see if you could find a fairly young female for a better chance of the getting along.

I had my female betta in my 28 gallon with Platties, Mollies and otto's and she fit in great! She seemed very happy. I had no problems.
