What fish do you have in the tank thinking of salt.
Try some shelled peas as well.

Can't use salt them with the plecs, can you issolate the bloated fish.
Shouldn't keep male betta with females.
The tanks overstocked.

(I'd be careful with those 7 females all in with that 1 male betta. That is a lot of fish for that small 5 gallon tank. )

As stated above try the shelled peas method. Good Luck!

i didnt know id overstocked, im only a newb  any particular reason for not keeping the male with the females, the bloating only occured during and after feeding, they seem to be using there front fins as stands, the male and plecs seem to be fine though

Try the shelled peas they could just be constipated.
Male betta will fight with the females.
I woulod get the male betta a tank of his own.
And rehome the plecs that tank is way to small for them.

the plecs are tiny around 2 cm each, i thought it would have been ok

do i just put the shelled peas into the tank?

Cook peas for a few minutes in boling water, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.
Frozen daphnia is very good for digesting a fish food.

No worries, here to help you out. The plecos will need a bigger tank as they grow. Plecos can range in size from 5inches to 24inches. So as you can see a 5 gallon tank will not work out for them. Also the plecos produce a lot of waste usually, this meaning they need great filtration. So if you can get a much bigger tank for them you would be fine. Do you know what breed of plecos you have? (this would help in determining tank size)

A male betta needs a tank of his own because he will fight with your females. Male bettas are quite solitary fish and prefer to be alone.

As for the female Bettas I would suggest at least a 10gallon tank for them. Check out the Betta section of the forum for more help with your bettas and how to house them if you have questions about that.

ok i will have to wait till the morning before i can do this, they do seem to be getting more active swiming around alot more.

whats the right amount of bettas to keep in a tank this size? sorry about all the questions

A 5 gallons is not that big once you put substrate, plants, filters, heater, and ornaments in.
I would say three females then there not much room for them.

the plecs are albino plecs

Even small plecs shouldnt be kept in less than a 10 gallon tank.

Is there any way you could get a picture up of your plecos? If you can't that's okay, just trying to figure out pleco we're dealing with here, as I am having trouble finding information on just an Albino Pleco on the internet.
