hi, i have a 15g tank with serpaes, platys and cherry barbs, it has hard water and wondering if female betas could be a good "centerpiece" fish
im thinking a group of three, would this be a good choice?? and would the serpaes nip thier fins

and do u know anygood supplier that sends out or in cambridgeshire!

(have recently lost a female gourami and my male has dropsy, so woulodnt add them until a few months or next year)

many thanks

Jodie

for a start you usually need atleast 4 to spread aggression, the more the better kind of thing with females
i personally wouldn't keep them with nippy tyetra or barbs

cherry barbs are very mellow, they would be fine, so would the platies, the tetras may me a problem though. How many of each fish do you have? You dont want to overstock.

5 serpae tetras, 5 cherry barbs, 4 platys (1 cherrybarb in QT, not added on the main tank, 1 gourami in QT from dropsy)

its may be overstocked but i want a centre piece fish/s
thanks Jodie

i wouldnt, serpae tetras are little buggers and will most probably nip their fins.

If you know it's overstocked then obviously don't add anymore. That makes no sense no matter how badly you want centrepiece fish.

If you re-home/move the tetras then it could work with 4 females.
