i've treated a very bloated female rosy barb with 2 treatments of maracyn two and 1 treatment of kanaplex, and neither really helped much.

i did notice a bulge in her stomach sometimes during the course of treatment. she doesn't have that problem any more, but instead, her stomach seems to keep expanding, as if something in her body is multiplying. her anus is enlarged and there is a red streak running from her anus along her belly.

could it be internal parasites and not a bacterial infection?

here are some photos i took tonight:

Wow she is bloated.
Epson salt baths to draw the fluids out.
Are scales sticking out.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.

Signs of internal parasites are.
long stringy white poo, clear mucas poo, red poo.
Inflamed red anus, or enlarged anus.
Being skinny or bloated.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Sunken in belly.
Bent spines sometimes.

I think with dropsy the anus can look inflamed.
If there red streaking running through her body sounds like septicemia has kicked in now.
Septicemia hard to cure once is advances.

scales are not sticking out. i haven't seen her poo that much really, but last night it was thin, white, and long like a thread. i put 5 tsp of epsom salt into the 5 gallon hospital tank today and she seems to be pooing normally again, even though she no longer swallows food. i am treating with api furan 2 now.

So her poo went back to normal colour.
Once septicemia kicks in on top not usually looking good for the fish.
Also its not wise using to many meds.
I would of just gone longer using the maracyn if there was some improvement,.
