Do all fish like cucumber? I added a bit to my tank as an alternative to flakes and pellets and none of them have really even looked at it.

I have 6 rosy barbs, a featherfin catfish, 2 danios and a tetra.

Some people say fish love veggies but I have never had any fish that would eat them other than some otos that would eat a little cucumber. As an alternative food, you might want to get some frozen foods such as bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, etc. They are easy to feed (I dissolve the cube in some tank water and just pour it in) and give them a threat.

I have always just dropped the cube straight in tank, is the way you do it much better m8 plz?

Dissolving it first makes it ready to eat so they can go at it as soon as it hits the tank. Dropping it in frozen means that it has to dissolve in the tank so it takes longer before they can get to it. Also, any bottom feeders may not get any if you drop the cube in as the other fish may eat everything as it comes off the cube. It's been so long since I did it that way I can't remember how the fish reacted to the cube.

hi

i just feed mine pre-frozen cubes and flakes
and i go down to the lake and get daphina they love it

Thanks, they ate the cucumber in the end, and I guess they enjoyed it, but I'll never know.

I read somewhere else that courgette is more benifitial than cucumber for fish. I'll try and find where I read it from.

It may not ever be an issue but I would be scared to introduce anything from a lake or pond for fear of what they my contain. You never know what may be in the water or what the larva may have been exposed to.
