ok so i got 3 upside down fish .. and i dont know how they eat...

every time i try and feed them flake food--- all the other fish are pigs and eat every thing- even the algea tablets.....

what do they eat? how do i feed them? :fish:

In nature the upside down catfish feeds primarily on insects at the surface of the water. They will also graze on algae to supplement their diet. In the aquarium environment they adapt readily to all types of foods, from dry to live or frozen. For optimum health, provide a varied diet that includes insect larvae when possible.
quote from http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/catfish1...sidedowncat.htm

insect larvae would be types of frozen/ freezdried bloodworms and other types of worms

i think i saw one of those at the store, and i was like, damn i think that fish is dying... then i saw something else and i was like, omg thats how its supposed to be :|

I have the same problem with my upside down catfish, he is in with my mbunas and they gobble up all the food before he gets a look in, sometimes though I manage to get pellets down to the bottom for him, and I have noticed now he comes out alot more at night, so I use floating hikari cichlid pellets which he seems to be able to get while the cichlids are sleeping. But if he gets really hungry I have also noticed he just head butts the other fish out of the way and gets the food. lol.

try melting some frozen bloodworm prior to putting it into the tank. then put it in. it will sink faster. what i do is put the bloodworm in 1 side of the tank and put flakes on the ther side to distract the other fish :D

try mosi larve they seemto sink faster than bworm, my one likes a bit of fast curent and chases the food through it and the water also washes the food into the little caves and hidding places where he hides and hes always got a round belly
