As i've posted before im going to get a 14gal tank with 6 glowlight tetra, a bristlenose (yellow), and 2 cherry barbs. I plant to feed bloodworm one per week algae wafers once a week for bristlenose, and flakes rest of time. Is this good or should i feed more live foods? How do i know what is the right ammount? A pinch? And with cucumber do you chop it up or put it in whole? How do you de shell a pea? And when my tank is cycled, can i add all these at once? I just not going to have a quarentene tank to put them in :S

i haven't done fishless cycling, but i believe you should only add a few fish at a time to prevent any ammonia or nitrite spikes.
a "pinch" of food is so subjective, if your fish eat it all in a few minutes, that's a good amount. same idea i guess for the bloodworm (i use frozen).
the peas i put a few in a tiny bit of water, microwave for 30 seconds, peel the outer layer off the individual peas and smoosh up the insides a little.
i haven't tried cucumber yet (that's today's treat). i think if you par-boil it a little it will sink. i also think you have to peel off the skin so you don't feed the fishies pesticides, etc...
i don't have any plecs, so i don't know how much he will need. i break off a little piece of algae wafer 2-3x/week for my ottos
hope that helps! :D

edit: spelling

Yeah i understand that but can i add all those at once once cycled? Or will i buy a few each week? Will i be okay to put in without quarentene?

a few at a time so you don't overload the bacteria...

i think you should always quarentine IF you have a spare tank (i say IF because the tank i had separated for a quarantine facility quickly morphed into a home for my female betta and no more quarantining for me...just have to go find another tank i guess)

update on the cucumber...
the fish ignored it first then i went by the tank and 1 otto was lying on top of it, eating, and the other was upside-down on the other side...ssooooooo cute!!!

now molly and goldie (platy) are pecking at either side and the fry have also tried it out

in the other tank...(juvy guppies and corys) everyone took alook, but now it is floating around like tumbleweed... :fun:

also i boiled it for about 1 min (thin slices), let it cool and popped the seeds out . i didn't know if they should have the seeds, so i decided to err on the side of caution.

m not going to be able to buy two tanks :S thats not good. What can i do? If i buy slowly(BN week 1, Barbs week 2, tetra week 3) without quarentene will it be okay? Also can you clean gravel without a gravelkvac, by just moving the subrstate or will my BN do a good job of it?> Cheers!
