I have real nice flake that provides 3 different types of nutrients for fish. And it says 1 flake per inch of fish. Well, should I crush the flake or put them in whole? I've always been crushing the flake.
I always crush half the flakes and leave the other half whole. Some smaller fish prefer crushed, particularly if it's the harder stuff, like Tetra Crisp.
1) I wouldnt follow rules like that too closely, add as much as the fish can eat in about 5 minutes 2) Crumbling or leaving whole is fine, if a fish is hungry it'll eat no matter weather it needs to break a flake apart first or not
All food you put in should be eaten within one minute not five. Over feeding is a very common cause of poor water conditions so should be avoided at all costs. In fact it is advisable to not feed at all for one day a week and leave your fish to scavenge.
