We’ve got way more young ducks than usual. I feed them regularly and they’re always enthusiastic when I hop by. I only have to cross the street to get to them. And sometimes they walk beside my place. They seem to know where I live…
Be careful with feeding ducks. NEVER give whole kernel corn as, just like us, they can't digest. Cracked corn is OK.
While there is controversy on this the safe route is to avoid feeding bread products especially to young ducks. The gluten seems to be the issue. Seems likely that the gluten causes wing bone deformities preventing the possibility of flight.
Not really but there are a lot of ducks in my area that several people feed. I was just curious as to what should and should not be fed so researched a bit.
Different animals have different dietary needs. I have a cockatiel and always research before trying new feed. Take avocado and apple with my bird... If eaten avocado can kill really quick. The 'meat' of an apple is OK but the seeds are also toxic.
Dogs can also surprise as to what is toxic. Most know to not feed chocolate but, surprisingly, grapes are also somewhat toxic. LOL! When I lived in Florida and had a black lab that LOVED grapes. When I found that they were toxic I had to sneak grapes for myself as, if he saw, he would whine and beg forever.
