Hello all, first time caller. :)

We are currently cycling a 29G tank we have set up for our 11 yr old son. We have had it going for 1 week with 2 platy's and 2 cory cats. How much should I be feeding them. I know overfeeding is a common beginner problem so any help from you pro's would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I would say only feed what they can eat in 2-3 minutes 2 times a day or 1 time a day if cycling still....the cory's should clean everything that falls. If you see any uneaten food on bottom after 15-30 minutes then you may want to try and remove it so that it does spoil.

i am cycling with fish (z.danios) and DID feed them small amounts 2 times a day.........NOW i feed slightly a bit more (but not twice as much) every other day.....it makes them eat as though it is their last meal ever!!!

and reduces risk of spoiling water as leslie above says also if u dont feed lots and lots the ammonia that is produced from the fish the bacteria have time to process it and not become overloaded resulting in "new tank syndrome"

hope that was sum good - but think many of us think we are or actually do feed more than we should!!

sorry phlawed !!! you i meant - about spoiling - ( i can't read)!!!!
