Hi

On Saturday i got 2 German Blue Rams which i think is 1 male and 1 female , what i would like to know is whats the best food to give them to bring out there colours and to make sure they grow to there max size , there about 1" at the moment and not as colourful as all the pictures iv seen on the net.

What ever they put in there mouths they tend to chew for a while then spit it out :( , they have a go at everything i put in ie: tetra prima, Small cat fish pellets, algae wafers , freeze dried bloodworm, i bought one of those frozen packs from pets at home that has a few different kinds in the pack and they hardly touched that ether..

starting to get attached to these little fellas so want to give them the best

Cheers

Kev

yeah iv tried flake as well and they do the same , not tried live food yet , the thing is what ever i put in the tank the greedy Harliquins get to it first so theres not as much gets to the bottom lol, im going to try some more forzen food tonight , is it best to just add it to the tank or defrost it in a cup of water first ??

if u want to get the frozen food to the bottom for ur rams ... rub the frozen food in ur fingers

As with many fish it is best to feed a range foods frozen crumble flake etc. My preferred feed schedule with rams and other dwarfs (actually most of my fish sice there fed the same in general) 3 nights per week tetra colour bits (may need to crumble slighty between fingers for smaller fish), 1 night flake and 2 nights blood worm (should be an OK size for rams) and 1 night of fasting (before a water change normally) then started the cycle again (btw this was done at random, or basically whatever I felt like that night but thats what it averaged)

Also note many smaller fish (eg rams) will take in a mouth full of food chew it a bit to break it up and spit the remains out, sometimes they grab another mouthful of it sometimes not

Basically the key is vary the diet, maybe feed use a colour enhancer as well (like tetra colour bits or colour flake) and try to note the size of food they intake and note the size of what they spit out to see if its the same size
