I have bought some frozen bloodworm for my fsh and turtles. I am wondering what do i do with them? I was thinking put 1 of the cubes in a cup and pour in boiling water then when it has defrosted pour this into my tank. is this right?

I use to defrost them, but I have been told by my lfs to just chuck em in frozen.

When I did this they seemed to enjoy them more pulling at the block while it defrosted rather than them just sinking to bottom xx

I wouldn't advise to chuck them in frozen as it can cause havoc with their digestive system. Imagine eating frozen sausages, Same thing.

I put the cube on a plate and let it defrost. While defrosting a liquid comes off it, as happens when anything defrosts. I pour this away as the fish can't use it in any way so all it does is pollutes the water. Once the liquid is poured away and the food is properly defrosted, feed away.

Alternatively, put the cube in a net and run the cold tap over it until it defrosts. This also flushes away the pollutant liquid i mentioned .

I wouldn't pour boiling water over them for the same reason i wouldn't defrost my sausages that way, you're creating an ideal breeding ground for germs. Letting it defrost naturally at room temperature or with a little help from the cold tap is the best options.

the same as what backtotropical said but adding it only takes a couple of minutes to defrost a block of bloodworms. Less if it is in a small container with some tank water in. Swirl it around a few times and it defrosts real quick.

i'd defrost the bloodworm cube in a cup of tank water, using the end of a spoon to stir it after 5 minutes before pouring the whole thing into the tank.

I normally place the cube of bloodworm/mysis whaever into a small amount of tank water to defrost (I found that a plastic water bottle cap makes a good fit). Then when its ready just poor it all in.
