Feeding Fish On Flies Etc...

i remember some time ago coming across a website that stated it's safe to feed tropical fish the odd house fly or spider, as it's what they'd eat in the wild. it's not something i've tried myself - mostly coz it's pretty difficult to catch a house fly and spiders are freaky.

i can see the logic that in the wild, anything on the water may become fish food, but would it be dangerous feeding 'domesticated' fish the likes of flies? couldn't the bacteria they carry potentially kill our beloved fishies?

It's possible that they insects we find around our homes have been contaminated. Most fish keepers that feed their fish live food culture it themselves to ensure that there is no risk of contamination. If you really want to feed your fish live foods, try to culture them yourself. Flightless fruit flies
