i'm going to go home from college next week (for thanksgiving). i have two adf's in my tank, and two guppies. i know the guppies will be ok without feeding for a few days, but what about the frogs? i plan on feeding them the day that i leave and the day that i come back. this leaves three days in between.

also, i usually only feed them every other day, should i feed them more often? and would feeding them more often now fatten them up for when i leave them alone for a couple of days or does it really not matter?
thanks to all in advance.

they will be alright. just feed them before you leave and when you come back. mine don't like to eat every day and are used to eating a bigger meal every other day or every three days.

I usually pick up a feeder block when I'm going to be away for 2+ days. They just sink to the bottom, and you can get them in different sizes ex: weekend feeder, 3 day feeder, 7 day feeder...
They slowly fall apart and the hungry ones pick at it, when you come home just scoop out the uneaten chunk and do a quick water change. (they claim to neutralize the water as they break down)

Since you don't really have all that many fish in your tank it'd be up to you, they definatly wouldn't starve, but they will be very happy to see you :)

My personal opinion (and I think that of many others) is that feeder blocks are evil. For one thing, they are often made with plaster. The plaster disolves and then releases whatever food is in the block. Of course the plaster then pollutes the water until the filter removes it. I feel these are far more trouble than they are benefit. Healthy, grown fish (ie, just about any but the youngest fry) can go quite a long while without food. Generally the larger the fish, the longer it can go without food. That being said, after some experimentation I have found that my fish and frogs are happy with feedings every 3-4 days normally. I have no breeding fish so don't have fry. All my fish are healthy and none go overly nuts at feeding time (except when they are given treats like bloodworms). If you feel you must buy some sort of vaction feeder, get one that motorized, usually battery powered. Test if for a few days before you leave to ensure it works. have fun on your trip. For the few days you will be gone, they will be just fine. They could probably go almost 2 weeks without food so long as they are healthy.
