Feeding a molly and a cory

I finally moved my quarantined cory into my 5 gallon tank, along with my one molly. The molly has been in there by himself for about a month. I was told by a fish person at the store to buy bottom feeder pellets for my cory. So I fed my molly like I have been for the last month and put the pellet at the bottom. I was pleased when I saw the molly take a nibble and then not like it. But when I came back later and observed longer, the molly was eating the whole **** thing and now the molly's belly is all swollen. I took the rest of the pellet out, so I hope it is not too late. I will not feed for 2-3 days now. But my question is this. Since the molly is a top feeder and eats ALL the food like a monster, how or what is the cory supposed to eat?

What I usually do is try to break up the pellet into the smallest pieces I can and then sprinkle them around the tank. The molly will eat some but hopefully the other fish can get to some too.
