Feeder Guppies

so i was at the lfs today and there were was a tank full of a ton of feeder guppies
and i kinda felt bad i wanted to get some i was just wondering whats the difference
between them they looked cute to me its not like theres anything wrong with feeder goldfish
but animals have to eat i understand i just wanted to know if theres anything really different cause ive never seen them before before i pick a few up for my tank.

They have no colour to them and they are probably inbred a thousand times over :blink: .But i dunno,just guessing :unsure:
 
Females have no colour, and males will just have a few black or red spot's on a greeny/blue base colour

And rejects as unsaleable so then sold as "Feeder fish"

In their own right their still nice fish and u never quite know what your end up with.
 
I have a few females who have brightly colored tails and bodys....does this mean they are not 100% guppy?

if their ment to be wild fish or endlers then yes, but if cultavated guppies then they are fine.
 
I've seen some pretty good looking feeders from time to time. You never know what you're gonna get with them and if you arent too picky it's a VERY cheap way to stock a tank.
 
As has been said, guppies bread en mass for food, with no respect for colour or quality. Can be a cheap way to stock a tank, If you have fish that need feeders, you could buy enough to breed yourself. Free food!

This is generally something we don't see in the UK, It's so close to being illegal (if it already isn't) that most fish shops won't openly sell them.
