My planted, sandy 170L tank is now a few months old with the following population:
20 Neon Tetra
3 Swordtails (MFF)
3 Burmese Border Loaches
1 Bristlenose plec

I'm happy with my tank and the whole fishy thing in general, so thanks to all posters and especially those who answered my questions along the way!

I've got some more though...
How do I know if there is enough algae in the tank to keep the Bristlenose happy? He/she/it seems to love sucking on the bogwood and rocks, but is there enough algae on them?

I run the main tank light from 3pm-midnight, and also for half an hour in the morning when I feed them. Is there any issue with a "long day" and a "short day" every 24 hours? Will the fishies get confused!?

I've bought some frozen bloodworm cubes for my new friends. What do I do with them? Just drop them in? Or do they need thawing first? Or perhaps sauted with some garlic and a little pepper? (Mmmmm)

Regards

lol, I dont think bloodworms are safe for human consumption, but sauted with a little butter and garlic might make them ok. lol.

Ok I am still new but from what I have read if you cant see the algea there might not be enough, you could always put an algae waffer in the tank, I dont think they break down very quick and will provide a supliment if there isnt enough algea.

For the blood worms my lfs said to put the cube in a zip lock and just float it in the tank untill its thawed and then put it in slowly so they dont all sink to the bottom befor all the fish get a taste.

i only rearly know an answer for the first question. :X
well i always clean the front and sides of my tank and leave algea to grow on my rocks and back of tank.that way the tank looks nice but natural and my fish are able to eat enough algea to keep them happy. :p

What does algae look like? I can't really see much that is obviously algae.

I have algae wafers, but I don't want to overfeed.
