I like the filter box because you can customise it to suit your own needs.
Mine goes like this (from intake)
ceramic media, course sponge, fine sponge, peat, polywool.
In addition to that, as a back up and as an emergancy filter for hospital tank etc, I have a box filter running off an airpump.
