HI

Hope you can help: A female guppy who had fry 2 days ago has been hanging around near the bottom of the tank ever since with her dorsal fin clamped. She is feeding but her swimming is a little wobbly and is mostly on the bottom.
I had a bit of an ammonia and nitrate spike 4 0r 5 days ago but after 2 big water changes the tank has been good for the last 2 days. All the other fish are fine and the fry in the net are doing well.

Is there anything I can do for her?

100L
Ammonia 0 Nitrites0 Nitrates 10 pH 7.8 temp 76.5
Lightly planted
One airstone
Fluval 3Plus filter ( slightly oversized)

6 FGuppies
3 M Guppies
2PLatys
6 neons ( 5 are very small)
2 2" clown plecs
1 bronze cory

Sorry she dosn't sound good, if she has a clamped fin it's a sign of stress, the birth and the poor water quality probably just took in toll on her sorry, is she layed on the bottom of the tank on her side.

No she's not on her side, and is swimming a little. I have just fed them and although she is up at the surface with the others she doesn't appear to be feeding. Lets hope she picks up. :byebye:

Just keep an eye on her, she isn't flicking and rubbing on objects.

What have you been feeding?

As usually, after any Livebearer gives birth, they seem a little down and exhausted. It helps a lot if you give them some kind of high protein food, like Bloodworms, Brine Shrimp, Tubifex worms...things like that. Live, Frozen, or Freeze-dried is fine. Just don't feed it every meal, because too much of it can make them bloated, or constipated. And it gives you bad water quality, if you feed a lot. Generally, if you feed it for one feeding a day, every other day you'll be fine. Once she perks up (Hopefully she will) you can cut back to just 2-3 times a week or so.

I hope she gets better soon! :D
