Fatguppy - Juwel Tank Flo Tube

Our 180 litre tank is a Juwel and I have no complaints at all. My son has bought a huge Aqua one and he is just as pleased with that. My understanding is (although I would not stand up in a court of law and state this, nor put my next wage packet on it!!) that the Juwel tanks are great economy tanks and the only thing we needed to change after purchase was the lights as they apparently only put economy lights in. The lights that are supplied are fine but if you want something that shows up the colours of the fish and/or helps the plants to grow you will need to change the bulbs.


My tank is a Juwel 70 with the supplied single tube in the hood.

Does the above suggest that the tube is replaced with a better one or the complete lighting fitting.

Which one do you suggest?

Some people have completely changed the light fittings in their Juwel tanks - they can tell you about that.

In my Juwel 70 I have a standard Power-Glo flourescent tube - bought from my lfs - which is certainly brighter than the original - but the thing that made the most difference was adding a reflector behind the light. Again it's a standard Juwel part - I'm not into doing much DIY

My Juwel 70 came with a reflector fitted, it's a white plactic one. Is the one you fitted the same or is the replacement an improved one?

You would say that wouldn't you

That means spending even more money.

Every time I go in to the lfs I come out several pounds lighter (money not fat).

Will have to enrole with FA (fishkeepers anonymous) as the addiction is getting worse.

I know what you mean - although you don't absolutely have to have one ...........

If only we did come out of the lfs several pounds lighter in weight too!
