A few months ago, I drove to petco and bought two female betta fishes. I have one female betta fish now that is either fat because it ate too much or it's pregnant. People keep telling me that she might be pregnant but I can't tell. I was hoping if I posted a picture on here that someone would tell me if my fish is fat or pregnant.

Can you tell if my fish is fat or pregnant?

I took this picture with my camera phone so it's kinda blurry. Let me know if you need more pictures.

Thank You.

She's probably just eggy.
It's a bit hard to tell from the photo though.
How much do you feed her?
It could also be that she is just fat b/c she's being overfed.
My betta Bluebell got HUGE b/c she would eat the flakes I put in for the other fish along with her pellets.
Try reducing the amount of food she gets if she is getting fed alot.
It's also a good idea to feed them a deshelled cooked pea once a week. Nothing BUT the pea that day. It helps clean their systems out.

When you say she's probably just a bit eggy, does it mean she could be pregnant?
Does overfeeding hurt? Will they die from it? I don't feed her that much though. She has a small mouth so I have to crush up the food into smaller pieces for her.
What are deshelled cooked peas? If I don't feed her for like a couple of days, will she go back to normal? Like will she get smaller or something like that?

Well it is a good idea to not feed bettas once a week.
If you overfeed, your betta could get constipated and develop a problem with their swim bladder. When that happens, the fish usually starts to have trouble swimming.
It's just regular peas you get at the grocery store. You just heat one up and take the shell off of it, cut it up into small chunks and feed it to her.
Bettas can't get "pregnant" not like a livebearer such as guppies. So the eggs inside of her are not fertilized.

How often should I feed her?
When I say "pregnant", I don't mean that like an actual pregnancy, I mean like breeding or something. Is that the word for it?
