Well, one of my females platy seems really fat.. I don't think she's pregnant because I've had her for almost 3 months and I've never had a male platy nor she has had fry. She's eating and swimming as usual, and I haven't seen anything unusual besides her swollen belly

I tried to take some pictures, but my dad took my "good" camera, so they look pretty bad, but maybe they'll help you to give you an idea

Edited: Here are the new photos I took, I think they're much better

I don't know if this helps but, I feed them twice a day, the first time I feed them with flakes and the second I give them fresh food like peas.

Peas should unconstipate fish if they are growing large for that reason. It is possible she has been giving birth and you've never seen the offspring. Is she eating the peas? Have you watched this specific fish feed on the peas?

yeah, she loves peas.. I don't think she's had any offspring, I've never seen her this fat before :/ I know livebearers can store sperm, or at least mollies do, but.. I don't know if females can use it whenever they think it's ok to have their offspring or something like that

females can hold back giving birth, my daughter had one that did this for 4 months then must of felt safe as she had 6 fry,
there was male in her tank either. as long as your fish has no pine cone look to her scales, ie sticking out, and shes pooing normal, try feeding a little less, maybe shes been eating her fry before. she looks exatly as mine would right before giving birth. hope shes ok Donna :good:

wow shes a big girl  , i have the same colour platy, id say she was def with fry.
is there places the fry could hide? keep an eye out for them, if you notice her lose weight over night within a week its def pregnancy. if this is the case in 4 weeks time put in some floting live plants, you will find fry like to hide in here, good luck with her shes sweet

yeah, she loves peas..
she should be OK with the peas.
I'm thinking of getting 2-3 platies because they are so beautiful

also fun to have.

do u have swordtails in your aquarium?...because maybe the swordtails are mating with her

She doesn't seem that big... I guess my platy is just always pregnant so I don't know if yours if huge. My guess is that she is pregnant. She could have stored the sperm for that long, or, like Denil said, maybe if you have swordtails, they could be getting her pregnant.
